After the revival of Pakistani cinema, we have marked nearly every genre being experimented for the cinema-goers. Whether, it was action, drama or animation our industry has produced it all. The Rom-Com genre is a marvelous addition to all the successful experiments done so far. Produced under the banner of Zashko Entertainment, Na Band Na Baraati has won the hearts of all. Story written by Harish Kumar Patel, is about two brothers, their girlfriends, a crazy-Romeo mechanic, two crazed families and a huge confusion within.
The roles are played by Mikaal Zulfiqar, Shayan Khan, Ali Kazmi, Anzhelika Tahir, Nayab Khan, and Komal Farooqi. Veteran actors of our industry; Qavi Khan, Azra Mohyeddin, Atiqa Odho and Mahmood Akhtar are also part of the star cast.
A perfect flick for the younger audience, Na Band Na Baraati is about Zahid and Shahid – Shayan Khan and Mikaal Zulfiqar, two eligible bachelor brothers living in Toronto, Canada, with their not-so-serious parents; Qavi Khan and Azra Mohyeddin who are looking for brides for their sons. On the other side, Zahid (Shayan Khan) is already in love with Ayesha (Anzhelika Tahir), planning to elope with her if the elder brother Shahid (Mikaal Zulfiqar) doesn’t come up with a plan to help him, who also has a girlfriend, Zoya (Nayab Khan).

The trouble begins when Shahid accidentally signs Zahid’s marriage papers in the marriage bureau and becomes the official husband of Ayesha, who his Zahid’s girlfriend. Zahid and Ayesha’s life is already twisted because of Ali Kazmi, who is a baddie-mechanic, crazy-in-love with Ayesha, which is a one-sided love story, always try to charm her and his strict father who is trying to get her married somewhere else. This is where the story gets interesting as confusion gets confused itself while unfolding through different comical situations.
Qavi Khan can be seen in a very different character, a young-at-heart man who is a flirtatious kind of a chap, wanting his sons to get married, Azra Mohyeddin is a good-cop mom who tries to save her sons everytime they are in a mess and justifies their acts to their father. Atiqa Odho plays the character of a single mother who doesn’t get much of a screen time but she sure knows how to leave everyone in awe with her immaculate acting skills. Mahmood Akhtar played a character of a strict father who worries about his daughter and also happened to be the director of the film. Both jobs are done right.
Debutante Shayan Khan’s acting skills proved that he is a star in the making. His passion for acting could be seen in the right amount in his first film. Nayab Khan and Anzhelika are two super fresh faces who were paired with Mikaal and Shayan looked perfect and grabbed everyone’s attention through their beauty and acting skills. Mikaal Zulfiqar was lucky enough to be part of two films this year, plus the charming face and perfect acting skills were indeed spellbinding, and last but not the least Ali Kazmi did justice to his character and kept giving laughter pangs to the audience.
The breathtaking locations of Toronto, Canada has absolutely added a next-level charm to the film. Na Band Na Baraati is Mahmood Akhtar’s directorial debut, through which he has enhanced the beauty of the film, frame by frame. One of the successful ingredients of any film is music. Ayaz Sonu has done it right! Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Shafqat Amanat Ali, Sahir Ali Bagga, Aima Baig and Nimra Rafiq has outdone the music for the film.
Overall, from location to music, the story to cinematography, Na Band Na Baraati has proved to be another successful venture of the Pakistani film industry. Well-chosen characters for a well-written script, definitely a must watch out of all the releases of this Eid.
