Weightlifter Nooh Dastagir Butt, age 24, of Gujranwala, has brought honour to his country by winning the first gold medal at the Common Wealth Games in 2022.
Butt lifted a total of 405 kilogrammes to win Pakistan’s first gold medal at the current games, including 173 kg in the snatch and 232 kg in the clean and jerk. A CWG record, in short.
The nation was proud to see Nooh triumph and see the Pakistani flag fly high as the national anthem played in the backdrop.
After four years, Nooh kept his promise to his father to bring home a gold piece.
