In the Ali Zafar harassment case, a court magistrate in Lahore issued bailable arrest warrants for singer Meesha Shafi and four others on Friday.

The written verdict stated:

“Meesha Shafi and his co-accused filed an exemption from the court hearing. Meesha Shafi, Syed Faizan Raza, Haseem Mahim Javed and Ali Gul Pir’s exemption has been rejected.”

The accused did not convince the court, according to the court, and all four have been issued with bailable arrest warrants.

Before February 8, the accused can deposit a Rs50,000 surety bond and appear in court.

In the next hearing, scheduled for February 8, the court will hear arguments on Ali Gul Pir’s verdict.

On January 4, singer Meesha Shafi appeared in the sessions court, where Ali Raza Kazim, the lawyer for actor-turned-singer Ali Zafar, cross-examined her on the legal case he had brought against the female singer.

Ali Zafar had launched a defamation action against Meesha Shafi for making ‘false’ sexual harassment charges. He stated that the claims had ruined his public image and that his family had been in agony and pain as a result of the allegations.
